World Wide Packets Improves Global Parallel Development with AccuRev SCM
Lexington, MA, March 27, 2006 – AccuRev Inc. today announced that World Wide Packets, a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet solutions, has integrated its AccuRev® software configuration management (SCM) solution with MKS Integrity Manager® , its incumbent issue tracking solution. Leveraging a best-of-breed SCM tool has enhanced World Wide Packets' ability to efficiently manage its complex, global, parallel development projects.
Due to rapid growth, World Wide Packets required a more sophisticated software development process and branching model. It chose AccuRev for its stream-based architecture and ability to facilitate support of these dynamic and increasingly sophisticated parallel development models, while also easily integrating with its existing issue tracking solution. World Wide Packets has now improved support for parallel development of multiple feature releases and seamlessly managing maintenance releases for existing customers.
Utilizing AccuRev's stream-based architecture and change packages, World Wide Packets now manages development in a high-level, change-driven model with greater efficiency. This allows World Wide Packets to share code, with greater ease, across multiple products and third-party partners, and has improved the integrity of building and tracking of releases. World Wide Packets also improved distributed and offshore development collaboration with AccuRev's optimized client/server model.
"AccuRev offered us a more efficient SCM tool for managing distributed and offshore change, multiple products and parallel releases," says Loren Larsen, Chief Architect, World Wide Packets. "The flexible and scalable stream-based architecture of AccuRev provides a powerful and intuitive method for managing our dynamic development processes and while quickly growing our global development team. The ability of AccuRev to adapt to our fast moving customer requirements with minimal administration has also proven to be invaluable."
AccuRev utilized its new AccuBridge™ for MKS Integrity Manager software development toolkit (SDK) to associate MKS Integrity Manager issue records with AccuWork, AccuRev's integrated issue tracking product. This provides a tightly integrated change package mechanism for software and release engineers to clearly identify which changes are associated with each defect fix and whether or not that fix has made it into a particular configuration of the code base. At the same time, quality assurance engineers are able to continue to use their familiar issue tracking tool.
