AccuRev Named to SD Times 100, Receives Award for Collaboration and SCM Innovation
Lexington, MA, May 16, 2005 - AccuRev Inc., developer of the first breakthrough in software configuration management (SCM) in over 20 years, was named to the 2005 SD Times 100 list of premier providers of software development products and services, earning an award for collaboration and SCM. SD Times credited AccuRev with pushing "change management upstream with the notion of change streams" in 2004.
"The software development industry is led by innovation, and AccuRev exemplifies an innovative approach to SCM," said Alan Zeichick, Editor-in-Chief of BZ Media's SD Times. "When choosing the 2005 SD Times 100, we carefully considered each organization's products and services, reputation with development managers, and the new ideas and thought leadership that it has brought to the industry. Thanks to the SD Times 100 winners, the art of software development continues to advance at a rapid pace."
The latest in a series of industry awards, the SD Times 100 honor reinforces AccuRev's position as a leader and innovator in the software development industry. Over the past year, AccuRev has been recognized for leadership in the software development industry including: efforts aimed at educating the software development community on SCM best practices and important SCM industry issues; outreach to the software development community to better understand and address SCM challenges; and work with users, partners and industry experts to provide the tools and resources that meet the evolving needs of software developers.
A key theme underscoring these efforts was AccuRev's focus on best practices -- the essential processes that help maximize efficiency and minimize disruption through all stages of a software project. This best practices focus was reflected in a number of activities over the past year, including:
- The development of a "SCM Best Practices" white paper, through work with leading software development industry expert and former Giga and Forrester industry analyst, Uttam Narsu.
- The launch of a new version of AccuRev's SCM solution that strengthened AccuRev's built-in best practices, enabling developers to implement their ideal SCM process - not one dictated by the SCM tool.
- The implementation of a user survey that highlighted the SCM issues facing the software development community.
- Coordination of seminars with SCM industry experts Mario Moriera and Steve Berczuk, which focused on educating developers about the process for selecting the best SCM tool and developing and utilizing SCM best practices.
"This SD Times 100 honor is a recognition of the impact of the unique AccuRev stream-based approach to SCM and our efforts to empower development teams with the tools they need to be successful," said Damon Poole, CTO and founder of AccuRev. "AccuRev will continue to look for ways to educate the industry about best practices and identify innovative ways to bring about the necessary change in the way software development projects are approached and managed."
