AccuRev, 19th Annual Jolt Productivity Award Winner

AccuRev Inc. was the only software configuration management (SCM) vendor to be selected by TechWeb for its 19th Annual Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards in the Change and Configuration Management category. This is AccuRev's second Jolt Productivity Award, adding to its two previously awarded Jolt Product Excellence awards.

AccuRev 4.7

"AccuRev is a great tool. It's the best software configuration management tool for integrating configuration management and workflow management with a sophisticated user interface, for both developers and CM managers. In this last year, we've seen AccuRev add features and tweaks that enable it to support large, distributed teams, namely: Multi-stage continuous integration, multi-server scalable replication and visual project filtering."

“…AccuRev's approach is so clean and simple to visualize that it is more than likely to be used and embraced by even the most jaded development teams.”

AccuRev, 17th Annual Jolt Winner

Lighting Can Strike the Same Place Twice

AccuRev is proud to have once again been selected as the winner of Dr. Dobb's 17th Annual Jolt Product Excellence Award in the Software Change and Configuration Management category.

AccuRev continues to Jolt the industry with its breakthroughs in software development tools. AccuRev is the first vendor to win 2 Jolt Product Excellence Awards in the software change and configuration management category (previously known as the Defect Tracking, Change, and Configuration Management category). AccuRev also won the Jolt Productivity Award two years ago.

With today’s globally distributed and outsourced development projects often managing multiple releases in parallel becoming the norm, AccuRev has become known as the optimal SCM tool to handle this new level of complexity.

In 2006, AccuRev developed important new functionality for users unable to meet today’s requirements with their legacy, file-based SCM infrastructures. Highlights of the new “Jolting” functionality added to AccuRev software in 2006 include:

  • AccuWorkflow, combining issue-based lifecycle workflow in the SCM tool

  • AccuBridge for tightly integrating with IDEs, third-party issue-tracking and other lifecycle tools to improve customers’ best-of-breed tool strategies

  • Cross-stream links, a unique feature that allows users to share library components across streams and projects for improved component-based development

  • AccuReplica enhancements for managing outsourced and geographically distributed teams.

"AccuRev's Stream-based architecture model along with its powerful issue tracking and extensive third-party issue tracking integration add-ons, clearly distinguishes it from other SCM alternatives. Highly recommended!"

"The key differentiating feature for AccuRev with AccuWorkflow is important: basically, it links defects from the defects database to code changes," said Jolt Judge Andrew Binstock. "You tag your changes as related to a specific bug (all within the Accurev tool). Then if anyone else goes into that bug, they can see what was changed in response. That's a neat feature. And given that the evolution of tools in this space is glacially slow, this convenient, automated workflow interface between two product categories (SCM and defect tracking) that have long been apart is, in my opinion, joltworthy."

Change—human nature abhors it, but technology relies on it. AccuRev manages it, subduing the beast with an innovative approach that developers call beautiful. This year, AccuRev again receives the industry nod, having won the Jolt Award last year.

Managing a software project can quickly deteriorate into a game of pick-up-sticks with a steaming plate of slippery spaghetti, but Lexington, Mass.–based AccuRev takes a signature approach to configuration management. It departs from traditional file-based change management, offering instead an approach in closer harmony with the contemporary development toolset.

AccuRev's adaptable, stream-based visual process offers a simple interface that supports the developer, including necessary flexibility for parallel development and private versioning. Add fully integrated issue tracking, and everyone, from junior developer to manager, is happy.

Lexington, Mass.-based AccuRev brings innovation to configuration management and source control. Rather than embrace the file orientation espoused by SCCS and later RCS—which underlies all CM tools today—AccuRev takes a new approach. Developer changes occur in a private sandbox and are fully versioned. Completed changes are merged into a common integration stream. And the integration stream is routinely merged into the main development stream after creating snapshots at known good build points. In this way, developers working on different tasks (maintenance, new development and so on) don’t have to force branch creation or waste time managing the reintegration of branched code. However, should branches be needed, they can be created easily. Moreover, they can be manipulated by an intuitive drag-and-drop interface into almost any configuration. By moving beyond the tried-and-true model of RCS and SCCS, AccuRev enables the source base to reflect the way developers really do program: in teams, working on a specific version or product release.
