1.	Q. I just received an invitation from a friend to try AccuRev, but don't know anything about AccuRev. What does it do? A. AccuRev is a software configuration management (SCM) tool which provides many unique advantages over some of the tools you may have used in the past. AccuRev adds real elegance to parallel development scenarios which feature numerous releases and many projects, libraries, components, and so forth. The unique StreamBrowser interface lets you manage branching in ways that no other tool quite offers. Features include private versioning, which allows you securely to store uncommitted/unpromoted changes. AccuRev is fully transactional and TimeSafe, which means you can very reliably reproduce the state of your codebase in time, even with deleted and renamed branches and directories in your hierarchy—in seconds, too. 2.	Q. I received an invitation from a friend to try AccuRev. Why is AccuRev offering me this free license? A. It's simple... we believe that if people use AccuRev for personal projects, they will realize it's potential and value when it comes time replace their old SCM system at work.

3.	Q. I received the invite to the AccuPass program, but my colleagues didn't receive one. Can I forward it to them? A. If you are an existing AccuRev customer, you may forward the original invite to all colleagues that have an email in the same domain as you. For example, if you work at Foo Co. and your email is John@Foo.com, then you can forward to all your colleagues with "foo.com" email accounts. They can all obtain their own AccuPass license, and also they can each refer 2 friends.

4.	Q. I am an AccuRev customer, can I refer more than 2 friends for the AccuPass free 2-user personal use license? A. At this time, the AccuPass program only permits 2 referrals.

5.	Q. I am an AccuRev customer, how do I obtain my license key for the AccuPass free 2-user personal use license? A. This page http://www.accurev.com/reg/accupass_ld.shtml will enable you to create an AccuPass license key by entering your "Host Name" and "Port #", and also enter 2 friends' emails as referrals.

6.	Q. I am an AccuRev customer, but I cannot generate a license key as described in question #5, what should I do? A. If you are an AccuRev customer with 5 or more licenses and a current maintenance agreement, the license generator is set to enable the creation of an AccuPass license key. If you are encountering difficulty, please email accupass@accurev.com and be sure to include your (1) Name (2) Company Name (3) Email and (4) A description of the issue you are encountering.

7.	Q. I have been referred by a friend (i.e., and AccuRev customer) to the AccuPass program. How do I obtain my license key for the AccuPass free 2-user personal use license? A. This page http://www.accurev.com/reg/accupass_ldfr.shtml will enable you to create an AccuPass license key by entering your "Host Name" and "Port #".

8.	Q. Can my friends then refer other friends? A. At this time, only customers can refer friends so people referred to AccuPass are not permitted to refer additional friends. People referred to AccuPass by AccuRev customers are not permitted to refer additional friends.

9.	Q. I entered two email addresses on your web form, and got an error? A. Unfortunately, two friend email addresses will generate an error and neither will be processed. Please enter one friend's address at a time.

10.	Q. What email should I use to register for my AccuPass license or to refer friends? A. You must use your email from the domain which is considered an AccuRev customer. For example, if you work at Foo Co., then you would use John@Foo.com to register. You cannot use your personal email account.

11.	Q. I installed AccuRev before I received my license key. How do I install the key on an existing installation? A. Please review the License Management section of our Administrator's Guide for instructions on installing a license key.

12.	Q. Are there any limitations to my AccuPass license? Is it time-limited or feature-limited, for example? A. Your two-user AccuPass license is not time-limited or feature-limited. The license key you generate is a perpetual (i.e., does not expire) license for the current version; new versions of AccuRev may require that you generate a new key, but the license key for the current version will not expire. The AccuPass license is essentially a full version of AccuRev Enterprise, and has all the functionality of that release. The license is tied to your hostname and limited to two named users. If you change systems and reinstall AccuRev on a new server, you'll need a new license. Upgrading your existing versions of AccuRev will require that you generate a new key, but the license key for the current version will not expire. The AccuPass license is essentially a full version of AccuRev Enterprise, and has all the functionality of that release.

13.	Q. How do I obtain technical support? A. Technical support for AccuRev for all AccuPass licensees is currently only available through the AccuRev support forum. Please click here to register for an account.

14.	Q. I don't want to receive offers from AccuRev. How do I get off your mailing list? A. No Problem. Send an email to accupass@accurev.com with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject line, and we'll remove you from future email correspondence.

15.	Q. How do I determine my hostinfo and port to install AccuRev to run on a server? A. In order for AccuRev to run on the server, you will need a license key with the hostname of the server and the port number AccuRev's Reprise License Manager (RLM) will use. Below are steps you can follow to determine the hostinfo, port and steps for updating a license key. SOLUTION: 1. Download AccuRev, below is a link to the download page. http://www.accurev.com/download.htm 2. Record which port you want AccuRev's RLM to use. The default port upon installation is 2375. Please note that this is a different port than the actual AccuRev server will use which is traditionally 5050. The license file only requires the RLM port and you can choose your AccuRev port without license implications. 3. Perform a "Full" install on the server. If you don't have a key, it is ok, just hit Enter when asked. 4. Once installed, run the following command to determine the hostinfo: - accurev hostinfo If you do not have the accurev bin directory listed in the path environment variable, you will need to run the command from within the <AccuRev install dir>/bin directory. 5. Now that you have a port and hostinfo, you can request your license key. 6. Once you receive your new key, you will need to perform the following in order to activate AccuRev. 7. Stop the AccuRev server process/service. 8. Copy the accurev.lic file to your existing site_slice location. The default location is <AccuRev install dir>/storage/site_slice. 9. Follow the guidelines in the Installation and Release Notes to run the Reprise License Manager. 10. Start the AccuRev server process/service.
