AccuRev SCM Software Solutions - New Features in AccuRev 5.4 (5.x)
A First Look at New Functionality in AccuRev 5.x
The AccuRev SCM architecture is designed specifically to simplify complex parallel development projects, ensure optimal team collaboration with both Agile and hybrid-process projects, improve software asset reuse, and accelerate time to market at a low total cost of ownership. The result is that AccuRev accelerates the software development process by 30%.
Through the innovative AccuRev stream-based model, organizations are able to manage and dynamically adapt application development processes together with their software assets in a single user interface. This results in the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities in minutes versus days, freeing up developers from administrative tasks to focus on more valuable business related activities. AccuRev is the perfect balance of elegance, efficiency and power to help organizations minimize the risk and optimize the value associated with managing:
- Geographically distributed and offshore development
- Complex and multiple releases in parallel
- Increased adoption of Agile development practices
What's new in AccuRev 5.4
- Native Windows 64-bit support For Servers
- Support for “Lion” Mac OS X for AccuRev clients (servers are supported on a “beta” release basis.)
- TimeStamp Optimization: A new Timestamp Optimization (TSO) feature is now optionally available as a server side setting. The traditional TSO provides good performance when identifying modified files, we've improved the functionality so it will always understand files with older time stamps that have been copied into the workspace from another directory. The new TSO maintains a small local database cache on the client which allows all modified files to be identified without a significant impact to performance. For details, see the “File Browser” chapter of the AccuRev On-Line Help Guide.
- New Stream and Workspace Search: With enhanced search in the stream browser, users are now able to search and filter results within the streams hierarchy. Additionally, users can search files within their workspace. With our new workspace search feature, you will be able to search through your files, filter the results and even limit them to file status. Watch a demo of this feature »

What's new in AccuRev 5.3
- Scalability and Performance: AccuRev 5.x combines the power of a general purpose SQL database with Native 64-Bit Linux to provides enterprise levels of performance, and scalability. AccuRev 5.x provides high performance for local teams and scale for large distributed enterprises. Microsoft Windows and other platforms continue to be supported as well, and also provide an optimal platform for enterprise performance and scalability.
- Reporting: AccuRev now offers reports to help teams understand, measure and gain better visiblity into the development process. AccuRev's new relational database capabilities make it possible to report on activities in streams and integration points to show code base complexity over time.
- Licensing Improvements:: AccuRev's new license manager provides users with the option of flexible licenses. Flexible licenses support the use of AccuRev by diverse, distributed teams, and enable contractors, occasional users, and others with non-development roles to utilize AccuRev without creating work for AccuRev administration.
- Internationalization: Full support for internationalization so you can translate the user experience on the desktop into your localized language and even support multiple languages throughout the system. Notes: (1) all path names must be in one character set, (2) language translation available from AccuRev for Japanese.
- eACLs: Accurev's fine grained access control permits teams to customize what files and directories they will allow others to see or access based on group, user and role. This is critical for secure outsourcing and security conscious development initiatives.
